Symptom

  • ASE errorlog contains an infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV) error with a stacktrace
  • Stacktrace occurs at address in make_fake()
  • client process unexpectedly disconnected
  • Errorlog also contains many "timestamp for database <name> ..." messages

  • ASE is under configured for "number of open databases" (i.e. fewer than the number of databases in the sysdatabases table)
