Symptom

  • Unable to mass upload recurring journal entries.
  • Inquiry about the availability of an API for mass upload of recurring journal entry.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Attempt to mass upload recurring journal entries using the app "Manage Recurring Journal Entries".
  2. Observe that there is no functionality for mass upload or an API available for this purpose.

Cause

The app "Manage Recurring Journal Entries" was not designed for mass upload functionality. Additionally, there is no API available for mass upload of recurring journal entries. Standard system behaviour 

Resolution

  1. For recurring journal entries, note that this functionality is not supported for mass upload. There is no API available as well for mass upload of recurring journal entries.
  2. The app Manage Recurring Journal Entries was not developed for mass upload of Journal Entries as it was developed in app F2548 - Upload General Journal Entries.
  3. A recurring journal entry is a business transaction that is repeated regularly, for example, the deferral of costs or revenues for an invoice where the same amount is posted over a period of 12 months. It consists of a template journal entry and a recurrence rule attached to it. A recurring journal entry by itself is not a journal entry; rather, you trigger the posting of journal entries from it.
