3657711 - Error "please enter gender of the dependent" when editing benefit enrollments

When attempting to edit enrollments for dependents, the error message "Please enter 'Gender' of the dependent" is displayed.

• SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central > Global Benefits

1. Navigate to the user's profile
2. Go to Benefits > Enrolled Benefits.
3. Identify benefits specifically for the dependent, such as:
4. Click on "Edit."
5. Change the coverage amount to any value.
6. Click "Save."
7. The error message "Please enter 'Gender' of the dependent." is faced

The issue occurs even when the gender of the dependent is correctly saved in the Dependents portlet and in the "benefits employee profile". 

This is caused because the gender field is not being set while populating dependent details in the method 'setDependentDetail' of the 'InsuranceEnrolledDetailHelper' class.

This results in the validation being triggered from the processor side due to the gender field being null.

Engineering team is working in a permanent fix and this article will be updated once we have more details. In the meantime, you can use the following workaround:

1. Go to "Manage Data" > "Insurance Rate Chart."
2. Set "Gender Relevant" to "No."
3. For rate charts covering dependents only, ensure the gender field has "No selection."
4. Save the updated Insurance Rate Chart.
5. Verify that users can now complete enrollments without encountering the error.
