3658761 - Model Technical Name Automatically Modified When Switching Datasphere Models With Same Name In Story In SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

When switching models from Datasphere of same name in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) story, the technical name of the model is automatically modified appending an extra "1" at the end.

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD 2025.14.9

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC.
  2. Create a new story in SAC
  3. Add a table to the story and in Select Dataset or Model window.
  4. Select Analytical model.
  5. Now click on Add New Data button under tools section and select the model name and the click replace
  6. Then in Select Dataset or Model window and search for analytical model with same name.

Notice: As soon as you select the model, the name of the model changes in next window appending an extra "1" at the end.

Cause

  • This is by design behavior of the product.
  • SAC requires all model names to be unique. When switching connections, SAC appends a number to the model's name to distinguish it from other instances.

Resolution

This behavior is not considered a bug but a limitation of the current system design.

Users are advised to submit a product enhancement request to prioritize this improvement: 2424376 How do you create an enhancement request and provide feedback for SAP Analytics Cloud?
