Symptom
- Input Controls values does not reflect the widget values selected when Linked Analysis is applied.
- When selecting values on a chart, or table that are setup with Linked Analysis, it updates the values of the other charts, and tables, but not the values of the Input Control, on a Story in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.15.16
Reproducing the Issue
- In SAP Analytics Cloud, create a Story.
- Add multiple widgets, like: charts, and tables.
- Add an Input Control on a Dimension to Filter the data.
- Setup Linked Analysis on all the widgets.
- When selecting values on a widget, like a chart, it filters the same values on the other widgets like another chart or table, but not for the Input Control.
Cause
- By design, Input Control values are not updated when values are selected on other widgets, like a chart or table, because the Linked Analysis for an Input Control is one direction only.
- In the Linked Widgets Diagram, it shows the Input Control arrow is one direction only. It shows an arrow going from the Input Control to the chart or table, but there is no arrow going from the other widgets to the Input Control.
Below is an example based on a demo Story, it shows the Input Control and other widgets, and the arrows indicates how each widgets affect each other.
- In other words, value selected in an Input Control filters the values on widgets like a chart, or table, that have Linked Analysis setup, but values selected on a chart, or table, will not be applied to the Input Control.
Resolution
There is unfortunately no option in SAP Analytics Cloud to update the values in the Input Control when selecting values on other widgets, like a chart, or table.
