3658883 - A user task may indefinitely sleep in the module plc__lock() as PLC sleep - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • In rare cases, a user task in SAP ASE may enter an indefinite sleep state as PLC sleep during a BULK INSERT operation.
  • When this occurs, the task may leave a transaction open in the target database. This open transaction can eventually cause the database log to fill up, resulting in a 1105 error.
  • This issue is observed when the "user log cache queue size" configuration parameter is set to 0.
  • If you run dbcc stacktrace on the affected user task, the output will show:

    upsleepgeneric
    plc__lock
    xls_pre_alloc_numclrs
