Symptom

Negative values are displayed in the 'P&L Plan/Actual' app.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the 'P&L Plan/Actual' app in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
  2. Input budget and actual cost data.
  3. Observe that the available budget is displayed as a negative value.

Resolution

  • Understand that the negative value in the 'P&L Plan/Actual' app is due to the standard calculation logic.
  • The measure is calculated using the following formula: 

If the Actual Amount in Global Currency is greater than zero = (Actual Amount in Global Currency - Plan Amount in Global Currency) ÷ Actual Amount in Global Currency × 100.

For example:

  • Actual Amount in Global Currency = 3,000 AUD (greater than zero).
  • Plan Amount in Global Currency = 100,000 AUD.
  • Calculation: (3,000 - 100,000) ÷ 3,000 × 100 = -3.233%.
