3660004 - Custom Field Shows Alphabetic Keyboard Instead of Numeric Keyboard

In the C4C iPad application, when users navigate to the Online Visit tab in Visits, the custom Facings field displays the alphabetic keyboard.
However, the expectation is that the numeric keyboard should be displayed, since the field requires numeric input.
Users highlight that for other fields (e.g. Page Numbers), the numeric keyboard is displayed correctly.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Log in to the C4C iPad application.

2. Navigate to Visits.

3. Open the Online Visit tab.

4. Locate the custom field Facings.

5. Tap on the field to enter data.

6. Observe that the alphabetic keyboard is displayed, even though numeric input is required.

The custom field was configured in the backend with a data type that defaults to text input. In the iPad application, the keyboard displayed is determined by the field type maintained in the metadata. If the field is defined as a text field, the system triggers the alphabetic keyboard by default.

This is the system behavior by default.

• To display the numeric keyboard, the custom field must be defined with a numeric data type in the backend (e.g. Number or Integer).

• Fields maintained as Text will always trigger the alphabetic keyboard in the iPad application, regardless of the expected input.
