3660204 - Why is a particular dimension not filtered at all by the planning area in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)

The recommended planning area is enabled for the model. However, a certain dimension is not filtered in the version details panel by the planning area at all.

SAP Analytics Cloud

1. Open a story.
2. Put a public version into the edit mode.
3. Check the version detail from the version management panel.
4. For some dimensions, no filter is listed.

This is the designed behavior. The system discards certain dimension filters to improve query performance or avoid runtime errors due to planning attempts outside the planning area.

Example cases:

• • a dimension filter (after hierarchy expansion) contains too many members, which would cause performance degradation when the filter is applied at query time
  • a dimension filter refers to all members of a dimension and is therefore useless
  • a dimension filter derived from Data Locking and/or Data Access Control is directly or indirectly blocking planning on a cell (e.g. a data entry on Europe with Data Lock on child member France can cause the Location dimension filter derived from Data Locking to be discarded).
