3660532 - Exclude/Include Contingent Workers from Team Size Calculation in the Latest Org Chart

Symptom

  • Org chart: the number of direct reports includes contingent workers.
  • The team size count now excludes contingent workers if the Hide Contingent Workers in Org Chart option is enabled in Org Chart Configuration.
  • What is the behavior in Team Size Calculation after enabling it?

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to "Org Chart Configuration" via Admin Center or Action Search
  2. See "Hide Contingent Workers in Org Chart" option available

Resolution

From 2H2025, the team size count now excludes contingent workers if the Hide Contingent Workers in Org Chart option is enabled.

NOTES:
  • If this option is not enabled, users can chose to enable Include Contingent Workers toggle in org chart. If it is enabled, this option will not appear on user level.
  • Hide Contingent Workers option is only available in Employee Central-enabled instances and is an admin level configuration.
  • SF Mobile app respects desktop application settings and updates and it may take up to 48 hours for the mobile app to be updated accordingly due to server cache.

Here are few sample scenarios to how it works:

#Scenario 01: In Org Chart Configuration, the option “Hide Contingent Workers in Org Chart” is disabled. (the toggle “Include Contingent Workers” is listed in Display settings and users can hide/unhide contingent workers).

Enabling the option “Include Contingent Workers”:
    1 - In Org Chart Display Settings, the toggle “Include Contingent Workers” is enabled. (Contingent Workers will be listed in Org Chart with regular employees)
        1.1 - Searching by an user who has 07 employees as reports to, where 02  are Contingent workers and 05 are regular employees: the Team size calculation displayed is 07 and 07 users are visible. The manager's team size number will still be the same.

 
 
Disabling the option “Include Contingent Workers”:
    1- In Org Chart Display Settings, the toggle “Include Contingent Workers” is Disabled. (Contingent Workers will not be listed as regular employees)
        1.1 - Searching by an user who has 07 employees as reports to, where 02 are Contingent workers and 05 are regular employees: the Team size count displayed is still 07 and only 05 regular employees are visible. The manager's team size number will still be the same.


 
 
#Scenario 02: In Org Chart Configuration, the option “Hide Contingent Workers in Org Chart” is Enabled. (the toggle “Include Contingent Workers” is NOT listed in Display settings and contingent workers will not be visible in Org Chart)

    1 - Searching by an user who used to have 07 employees as reports, where 02  are Contingent workers and 05 are regular employees: Contingent Workers will not be listed/displayed anymore.
    2 - Team size calculation is still 07 even Org Chart displaying only 05 users.


 
    3 - NOTE: Team size calculation takes about 30 minutes to fully apply the changes and display the correct number.
    4 - After the suggested time, Team size is correct based.


 
 
This behavior is controlled exclusively by the company-wide administrative setting. The user-level toggle, Include Contingent Workers, found in the Org Chart's Display Settings menu, only affects the visual display of workers, acting like a hide option and does not impact the team size calculation.

NOTE:

Technically, we don’t store two team size for every manager, and calculation team size in the runtime when end user click switch is not technical feasible.

If customers have suggestions to improve this behavior, an enhancement idea should be raised to the Product team: 2090228 - How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Products. This also allows other customers to engage and endorse it.

There is already an influence idea presented regarding this feature: Improvement Request Details - Customer Influence. As of now, there is a technical limitation about it and the Product team is working on this blocker.
