3660989 - Day assignment system logic of Cross-Midnight shifts

Symptom

This KBA provides clarification on how the system logic determines the assignment of night shifts to specific days.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking

Resolution

The system determines how recordings are assigned using two parameters:

  • Planned Working Time
  • Night Shift Bandwidth

Scenarios :

  • 08:00 AM – 09:00 AM
This entry is assigned to the current (physical) day, as it falls outside the night shift bandwidth.

  • 07:00 AM – 09:00 AM
The start time falls within the night shift bandwidth. Therefore, the system assigns the entry to the previous (logical) day and applies a “+1 day” modifier to the actual date of this segment.

Summary

The night shift bandwidth dynamically determines whether an entry is stored with or without the +1 day adjustment.

Note: Currently, there is no option to manually select which day an entry should be valid for.
