3661749 - Error Message: "Editing is restricted. To edit, go to original entry source" is displayed in Manage Workforce App

Symptom

In the process of editing a worker through the 'Manage Workforce' app, an error message "Editing is restricted. To edit, go to original entry source" is raised. -  Message no. BUPA_BPU_MESSAGES029.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Manage Workforce application.
  2. Attempt to edit worker data created via an external data source.

Cause

  • Worker data must be maintained in the leading external system (entry source) to prevent data inconsistencies between the Manage Workforce application and the external data source.
  • It is only possible to edit all worker data when the worker has been created locally via the Manage workforce application.

Resolution

  1. Edit worker data in the external system that serves as the leading source for user data.
  2. Replicate the updated worker data from the external system to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
  3. Updated worker data will now be visible in the Manage Workforce application.
