Symptom
In the process of editing a worker through the 'Manage Workforce' app, an error message "Editing is restricted. To edit, go to original entry source" is raised. - Message no. BUPA_BPU_MESSAGES029.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Manage Workforce application.
- Attempt to edit worker data created via an external data source.
Cause
- Worker data must be maintained in the leading external system (entry source) to prevent data inconsistencies between the Manage Workforce application and the external data source.
- It is only possible to edit all worker data when the worker has been created locally via the Manage workforce application.
Resolution
- Edit worker data in the external system that serves as the leading source for user data.
- Replicate the updated worker data from the external system to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
- Updated worker data will now be visible in the Manage Workforce application.
