3663008 - Enhancements to the U.S.C.I.S. Form I-9 - Onboarding

Symptom

The enhancement has updated the form expiration date for the  U.S.C.I.S. Form I-9 and updated how document receipts are calculated for the Form I-9 Reverification process.

Cause

On January 20, 2025, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) updated the terminology changing "noncitizen" to "alien", and extended the current Form I-9 expiration date from July 31, 2026 to May 31, 2027

Resolution

  • Date change on the form now aligns with the U.S.C.I.S's extension of the current Form I-9 expiration date.
  • Also updated how the system calculates the Form I-9 reverification process when a new hire presents a valid document receipt to ensure reverification isn't triggered prematurely.
  • The due date logic for the Complete Form I-9 Section 2 Task on the New Hire Details page reflects the new calculation as well.
  • Please Note: Form I-9's generated after the 2H 2025 release have the updated expiration date and terminology. Form I-9's generated before the 2H 2025 release have the previous expiration date and terminology.
