3663404 - New Employee Profile – UI Rules for URL visibility Not Working and URL Links Not Opening in New Window in Mobile

Symptom

  • When the link/field is populated with a URL and set to be visible, it is expected to open in a new window; however, it currently opens in the same window instead.
  • The link cannot be controlled (hidden/shown) using UI rules as expected.
  • The dynamic link is not working in the Mobile Summary view.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Using the same setup as above, go to Manage Configuration UI.
  2. For the URL link field, navigate to Details and configure the URL to open in a new window.
  3. Test the URL field on the Employee Profile.
  4. The URL opens in the same window/tab instead of a new window as configured.

Cause

Both dynamic and static links are supported for custom MDF object Summary Cards on the web. However, dynamic links do not work on Summary Cards in the mobile application.

Resolution

  1. Dynamic links are supported; however, they do not work on the Summary Card in the mobile application, as this is a current design limitation.
  2. A new option is planned for the 2H 2026 release to support dynamic links on the mobile Summary Card. This may require manual configuration of the dynamic rules.
  3. Currently, links are expected to always open in a New window.  The configuration of the link with new window / self will not be supported and link will open in a new tab as default.This is a known issue and is planned to be fixed by Engineering. The fix for this issue is targeted for the 1H 2026 release. For detailed timelines, please refer to the SAP SuccessFactors Product Release & Road Map Information
