3663882 - Error "no valid object type found for class view generation" in app Classification/Configuration CDS Views - Generate Analytical Views

Symptom

The error message "No valid object type found for class view generation" appears when attempting to generate CDS views for classifications of class type 018 and object type PLKO using the app 'Classification/Configuration CDS Views - Generate Analytical Views' BSCL_CDS_GENERATE.

Environment

  • Classification HANA based Analytics (Public Cloud).

Reproducing the Issue

1.Open the app "Generate CDS Views for Classification/Configuration" (BSCL_CDS_GENERATE).

2. Fill in the data:

  • Class Type: 018
  • Object Type: PLKO
  • CDS View Name: CLASS_INSPECTION

3.Click on "Run".

4.Observe the error message: "No valid object type found for class view generation" BSCL019 

Cause

The error "No valid object type found for class view generation" is raised when there active ECM (Engineering Change Management) for the allocated class type. This functionality is not supported by the app BSCL_CDS_GENERATE.

The class type involved has the indicators 'ECH (time)' and 'Change Docs' set in customizing 

 Note that in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, delivered class type settings cannot be changed for consistency reasons.

Please submit a feature request by following the KBA 2963059 ( https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2963059 ) if you would like the customizing Cross-Application-Components -> Classification System -> Classes -> 'Maintain Object Types and Class Types' exposed as a configuration activity in S/4HANA Public Cloud
