3663901 - SAC : Forecast cross tab cutover date seems to add one period. Actuals should stop at the but one extra period is always shown.

Symptom

  • From a story with a Forecast Cross Tab, the cutover date uses an input control and the date is calendar quarter.
  • When selecting the input control, for example to Q2 2025 it will show actuals to Q3 2025, or if you select 01 2025 actuals will be shown to 02 2025 etc. It seems to add one period to the cutover date. The cutover date should be the period that actuals stop and the next period is the first forecast period.
  • Forecast cross tab cutover date seems to add one period. Actuals should stop at the but one extra period is always shown.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.8.14 (Client) 2025.8.13 (Server)

Cause

This is the limitation of using the Forecast layout to report by Calendar Hierarchy which is not possible if the Model "Preference" is set as Fiscal.

Resolution

  • This is a normal behavior because the model used in the forecast layout is enable fiscal year settings and use a fiscal hierarchy, while the Current Date Input Control created in the story always use a calendar date.
  • In the modelling page, you can find that Month (ex: July) is set as the starting month for the fiscal year and it denotes fiscal year by year in which it ends, thus calendar 2025Q1 map to fiscal 2025Q3, which reflects the behavior in forecast layout.

  • You can also find more mapping details in the dimension table of Date.
