Symptom

SAP Application Server is unable to connect to the database. Error messages observed in trans.log:

  • "libclntsh.so.11.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
  • "Couldn't load library '/usr/sap/TBP/SYS/exe/run/dboraslib.so'"
  • "Codepage mismatch between executable (ASCII) and DBSL shared library '/usr/sap/<sid>/SYS/exe/run/dboraslib.so' (UNICODE)"
  • "no connect possible: 'maybe someone set invalid values for DIR_LIBRARY ('/usr/sap/<sid>/SYS/exe/run ') or dbms_type ('ORA')'"
