3664035 - The journal entry type for invoice cancellation (Billing type S1/S2) is not the one configured in flexible document posting - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

When canceling a billing document, the journal entry type for the invoice cancellation is not the journal entry entry configured in flexible document posting. 

Environment

 SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure the journal entry type in the decision table of the configuration activity "Define Formulas for Flexible Billing Document Posting".
  2. Cancel a billing document in "Change Billing Documents" app.
  3. Observe the journal entry of the related invoice cancellation.

Cause

There is a new cancellation logic for billing document in place.

It is an FI-based reversal, and is taking Reversal Doc. Type defined in the Doc. Type conf. record, which means that FI document types defined in other configurations are ignored.

The system will check the Reversal Doc. Type maintained in the SSCUI-"Define document types for posting journal entries".

If the field is initial, it will pick the document type of related billing document.

 

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the configuration activity "Define document types for posting journal entries".
  2. Locate the document type associated with the billing document (e.g., F2).
  3. Maintain the Reversal Doc. Type field for the document type of the billing document.
  4. Save the configuration changes.
  5. Test the cancellation process again and check the journal entry type for the invoice cancellation.
