3664039 - Primary Contacts of Activities are Overwritten by New Primary Contact After Customer Merge

Symptom

After merging Accounts, the Primary Contact of non surviving record in activities (e.g. Appointments, Tasks, Phone calls) is overwritten by a new Primary Contact.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Customers work center
  2. Go to the Accounts work center view
  3. Select the Accounts A and B (Account A's Primary Contact is John. John is the Primary Contact of the Appointment // Account B's Primary Contact is Mary. Mary is the Primary Contact of the Appointment)
  4. Click Initiate Merge
  5. Select Account A as Surviving Record
  6. Activate the Merge
  7. Go to the Customer Merge work center
  8. Opened the Merged Account
  9. Check the Primary Contact of the Appointment

Result: Primary Contact of the Appointment of Account B (Non Surviving Record) is overwritten by John

Expected Result: Mary should remain as the Primary Contact of the Appointment of Account B.

Cause

When the customer merge happens, redetermination happens for the Primary Contacts of activities because he scoping question "Do you want to disable the party re-determination during account merge for open transactions?" is not enabled.

Resolution

Enable the scoping question "Do you want to disable the party re-determination during account merge for open transactions?".

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center view
  2. Go to the Implementation Project work center
  3. Select the current project
  4. Click Edit Project Scope
  5. Go to 4 Questions
  6. Open "General Business Data" => "Business Partners" => "Handling Business Partners"
  7. In Business Options, enable scoping question "Do you want to disable the party re-determination during account merge for open transactions?"

*If redetermination is expected for Customer Merge, disable the scoping question.
