3664766 - Sorting and suppressing dropdown values in PO Order type field in Create Purchase Order-Advanced app

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, users request the ability to:

• Sort the values displayed in the Order Type dropdown list in the Create Purchase Order – Advanced and Change Purchase Order – Advanced apps.
• Suppress or hide certain order types that are not relevant for business use so that they do not appear in the dropdown list.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Create Purchase Order Advanced application (ME21N) or Change Purchase Order Advanced application (ME22N).
2. Navigate to the order type field.
3. Observe that the dropdown list displays all available order types without sorting or suppression of unused values.

Currently, the sorting and filtering behavior of this dropdown list is standardized by SAP Fiori framework logic, meaning the list is typically displayed in alphabetical order. Sorting the dropdown values in a specific order (e.g., by description or business priority) is not supported in the standard cloud environment.

The values displayed in the Order Type dropdown list are derived from the Purchasing Document Types that are configured and active in the system.
In the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, this dropdown is a standard system-controlled field, and there is no configuration, SSCUI, or BAdI available to:

• Change the display order of document types, or

• Suppress specific document types from being displayed.

The following workaround can be considered depending on the business requirement: Set Authorization Restriction-

• Use business roles and authorization objects to restrict users from creating or changing purchase orders for unwanted document types.

• Although the order types will still appear in the dropdown, users will receive an authorization error if they select a restricted type.
