• SAC add-in reports keep running and sometimes do not finish.
• In some cases, the refresh finish after an extended time where the status remains in "Processing".
• The issue happens with the SAC add-in reports with a huge data volume.
• During the refresh, it shows Calculating (XX threads) in the Excel status bar.
• Further analyses reveals that most of the time is consumed by the rendering process to display the rather large table in Excel itself. Very little time, on the other hand, is spent retrieving data from the backend.

1. Log in to the SAP Analytics Cloud Add-in.
2. Open the SAC Add-in workbook.
3. Click the "Refresh selected table" or "Refresh All" button.
4. Observe that the status remains in "Processing" for approximately 10 minutes before changing to "Ready".

• The issue is related to the rendering process in Microsoft Excel for large tables containing many cells (e.g., 267,000 cells).
• Unlike SAP Analytics Cloud, where tables are pre-rendered on the server, Excel performs rendering on the client system.
• Performance issues may arise if the hardware used does not meet the system requirements for Excel and the SAP Analytics Cloud Add-in.
• Additional open workbooks in Excel may also divide runtime resources, further slowing down the process.

1. Ensure that the hardware being used meets the system requirements for Excel and the SAP Analytics Cloud Add-in.

2. To provide Excel with optimal resources, close all other open workbooks in Excel and have only one workbook open while performing the refresh. Excel divides its runtime process into individual threads (which would be multiple open workbooks). This can be observed in the Task Manager. If actions are executed simultaneously in additional workbooks, the entire process slows down, potentially leading to long execution times or even to interruptions. 
3. If the issue persists, consider upgrading the hardware to meet or exceed the recommended specifications for optimal performance.
