Symptom
- It is not possible to change the EAN number range object (e.g., EUROPARTNR, EANGEWICHT, or EANGEWICH5) of an EAN Category to a custom number range object.
- The EAN number range object EUROPARTNR, EANGEWICH5, or EANGEWICHT value is grayed out (locked) in SSCUI/Configuration Activity 102782 Define Attributes of EANs/UPC.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to SSCUI/Configuration Activity 102782 Define Attributes of EANs/UPC.
- Select one EAN Category
- Attempt to change the number range object.
- The number range object field is locked/gray.
Cause
Missing functionality.
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition current release it is not possible to change the number range object for an EAN category.
Resolution
As a workaround, instead of changing the EAN number range object, consider maintaining the desired number range intervals in one of the default EAN number range objects by using one of the following SSCUIs/Configuration Activities:
- 103680 - Define Number Ranges for EANs/UPCs
- 103681 - Define Number Ranges for Perishables EANs (4-Figure)
- 103682 - Define Number Ranges for Perishables EANs (5-Figure)
With the number ranges properly maintained, make sure to assign them to one EAN Category type by using one of the following SSCUIs/Configuration Activities:
- 103683 - Assign Number Ranges to Number Range Object - EUROPARTNR
- 103684 - Assign Number Ranges to Number Range Object - EANGEWICH5
- 103685 - Assign Number Ranges to Number Range Object - EANGEWICHT
If maintaining a custom EAN number range object is considered an important feature to be implemented in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, consider submitting an improvement request in SAP Customer Influence Portal.
