3667312 - Guardrails in Story Reports

Symptom

As a report designer, you receive real‑time warnings when creating performance‑heavy Story Report queries. When guardrail thresholds are reached, the system displays warning messages and prevents the addition of further guard‑railed pattern elements, helping avoid anti‑patterns that negatively impact report performance. The following messages may be displayed:

  • “You have reached the maximum limit of 36 nested IF conditions that can be used in a query.”
  • “You have reached the maximum limit of 12 self joins that can be used in a query.”
  • “You have reached the maximum limit of 7 nested calculated columns that can be used in a query.” (Disabled as of 13th Feb 2026)
