Symptom
- 'Calculated account' cannot be entered manually in a table.
- 'Calculated account' cannot be imported via an import job
- Issue occurs when using the "Upload Job" functionality in SAP Analytics Cloud story. The upload completes successfully without errors, and the "Calculated account" is uploaded, which is not the expected behavior:
>> The expected behavior is to receive an error message indicating that "Calculated account" cannot be uploaded. - No issue occurs when using the "Import Job" functionality in the "Data Management" model. The "Calculated Measure" is correctly rejected:
>> After checking the Excel file uploaded, the following error message: "Cannot use calculated measure" appears in the calculation measure row.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud (2025.14.12)
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to the "SAP Analytics Cloud" system
- Open the story
- Run the "Upload Job" functionality and select the "Excel" file:
>> Observe that no issue appears, and the message displays: "The upload job finished running ...records have been loaded. The data has been published to version 'Actual'". - Navigate to the "Model Structure" under "Workspace"-> Click on the "Toggle Data Foundation View"
>> Observe that the "Calculated Account" was uploaded: (which is not expected). - Navigate the "Data Management" under "Workspace"
- Check the "Excel" file and click on the "Import Data" button.
- Select "File (Local File or File Server)" as the data source.
- Select the "Source file" to import the Excel file.
- Select the "Excel" file from the desktop and click "Import":
>> Observe that the message displays: "....xlsx job has been created successfully". - Click on "Set up import", then "Next", then "Next":
>> Observe that the message displays: "Data successfully validated". - Click the "Run import" button and then "Finish":
>> Observe that the message displays: "Data from Sample Upload has been imported successfully". - On the right "Status" tab, click on "Rejected rows":
>> Observe that the "Calculated Account" is correctly rejected with the error message "Cannot use calculated measure" appears in the imported Excel file
Cause
By design behavior: Currently, the 'Upload Job" feature simply does not have this validation.
Resolution
- Check the uploaded file manually to prevent the "Calculated account" from being updated.
- Submit an "Enhancement Request" to the Idea Place about this option (Preventing data from being uploaded to 'Calculated account') for future considerations:
"SAP is committed to reviewing and responding to the ideas submitted on a regular basis. The ideas with the most votes will receive a higher level of attention for response and consideration. The processes and procedures associated with this site will continue to evolve and enhance over time.
