3668948 - Handling Unit Label Printing during Goods Receipt posting in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • It is not possible to automatically trigger the HU_LABEL output during the Goods Receipt (GR) posting.
  • The HU_LABEL output type can only be triggered at Handling Unit (HU) creation or change events.
  • The Goods Receipt posting does not modify the Handling Unit, and therefore, does not trigger an HU change event that could be used to initiate label printing.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Purchase Order.
  2. Create an Inbound Delivery.
  3. Adjust delivery quantities using the App "Change Inbound Deliveries".
  4. Pack materials into Handling Units (HUs) using the same app.
  5. Post the Goods Receipt using the App "Change Inbound Deliveries".
  6. Observe that the HU_LABEL output is not triggered automatically during or after the Goods Receipt posting.

Cause

The Goods Receipt posting does not modify the Handling Unit, and as such, it does not trigger an HU change event required to initiate label printing.

Resolution

Use one of the following workarounds to trigger the HU_LABEL output at or after the Goods Receipt posting:

1)  Print the Warehouse Management (WM) HU label during Putaway Warehouse Task (WT) creation. Configure the WM HU output to trigger with "Storage Bin" as the GR-AREA in the App "Output Parameter Determination". This parameter changes during putaway task creation, enabling the output.

2) Use the Logistic HU output instead of the WM HU output. When the Goods Receipt is posted for the inbound delivery, a Logistic HU is created on the Logistics Execution (LE) side with the GR message. Configure the Logistic HU output, which has similar fields as the WM HU, to meet the label printing requirements.
