3669097 - Net Amount in Sales Order Should Be Equal to Total Amount (Base Price + Tax)

• The Net Amount field in the sales order currently reflects only the Base Price instead of the Total Amount inclusive of tax (Base Price + Tax).  
• Tax is shown separately and the Total Amount (Base + Tax) is visible only in the condition list. 
• There is a requirement that the Net Amount field display the Total Amount (Base + Tax).

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create a standard sales order.
2. Enter base price and applicable tax condition.
3. Navigate to the Conditions tab.
4. Observe that the Net field shows only the base price, not including tax.  
5. Business expects the Net field to show the total amount inclusive of tax.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the Net Amount field is specifically designed to display only the net value, which is the base amount excluding taxes. Taxes are calculated separately and displayed in the Tax field as well as in the relevant pricing conditions. The Total Amount, which includes both Net and Tax, can be found in the pricing condition list and is reflected as the Gross Amount in the billing document.  

This design ensures that:

• Accounting consistency is maintained, as net revenue and taxes are always posted separately to their respective G/L accounts.
• Tax compliance requirements are fulfilled, since many jurisdictions mandate a clear segregation of tax from the base value.
• Sales and contract values are consistently comparable across different countries and tax regimes.

The observed behavior is standard system functionality in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The Net Amount field will always show the base value without tax, while the Total Value (Net + Tax) is available in the condition list and billing document. 

If the business requires direct visibility of the total value (including tax) within the sales order, this can be achieved through one of the following options:  

• Creating a custom field or extension to display the Total Value directly.  
• Developing a custom report or Fiori app to provide the required visibility.
