3669406 - Rounding Difference in Preliminary Value in App Activity Consumption Analysis (CKM3A)

Symptom

The preliminary values displayed in the app "Activity Consumption Analysis" (CKM3A) exhibit small rounding differences compared to the expected values.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

The rounding difference arises from the calculation methodology used in determining preliminary values.

Logically, the preliminary value is expected to follow this formula:
Preliminary Value = Standard Price x Quantity

However, the discrepancy occurs because the total value displayed is the sum of the individual item-level values. Specifically:

  • The total value in the folder Total Allocation corresponds with the value in the Consumption folder.
  • The Consumption total value is calculated by summing all the items under the Consumption folder.

This item-level summation introduces a small rounding difference due to decimal variables when performing calculations across multiple items.

Resolution

To verify and reconcile the difference, follow these steps:

  1. Open the "Activity Consumption Analysis" app (CKM3A).
  2. In the drop-down menu of the printer icon, select the option Print Preview of the Entire Hierarchy.
  3. In the result screen, navigate to: Menu → System → List → Save → Local File... → Spreadsheet.
  4. Export the data to an Excel file.
  5. Within the Excel file, manually calculate the sum of the individual consumption values under the Consumption folder and compare this with the total value displayed in the system.
