Symptom
- Desired field is not available for reporting in Story Reports.
- The field cannot be added to Field lists under Manage Data > Report Object Configuration Entity > <Object_Name>
- Error message: "The field (<field_name>) is not a custom field and therefore cannot be added to the following object type (<Object_Type>)."
Where <field_name> is the desired field to use in Story Report, for example positionControlled
and <Object_Type> is the type of <Object_Name>, for instance Position

Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Manage Data > Report Object Configuration Entity > select the object from the dropdown list.
- Attempt to add the field to the Field lists.
- Observe the error message.
Cause
- Object must be saved to repository.
- Backend sync job responsible for populating the data in the Report Object Configuration Entity has not run or is not created.
Resolution
- Ensure that field visibility is not set to "Not Visible". If it is, the field will not be available for reporting in Story.
- Create a provisioning job with the job type "Save Changes To Report Configuration Object Job" under Manage Scheduled Jobs.
- Run the following jobs in the specified order:
- MDF Object Definition To DB Sync.
- Save Changes To Report Configuration Object Job.
- Refresh BizX Reporting Metadata. (This needs to be run from the "Configuration for Story Reports" section in Provisioning)
Wait a few minutes and validate that the field appears under the Fields List in Manage Data > Report Object Configuration Entity > <Object_Name>.
Important note: In order to perform the above steps Provisioning access is required.
