3669972 - "Model information cannot be found" error encountered on an imported Story Report's query, however it is previewable

Symptom

A Story report is imported from another instance. Accessing the Story Designer, several errors are displayed, such as:

  • "Please contact your administrator.
    Model: <Model Name> Correlation ID: <ID>"
  • "Error: Debug [IOLayer]: (#<num>) <ID>
Error [Server]: (#<num>) Query does not exist in the query repository.Correlation ID: <ID>"
  • "The table failed to initialize: Please Contact your Administrator. ..."

When accessing the data source the following error can be seen:

  • "Model information cannot be found.Correlation ID: <ID>".

However, clicking "Preview query" the columns and data are visible as expected, and there are no errors encountered.

IMPORTANT: The resolution proposed in this KBA is only applicable if there are no errors encountered when clicking Preview Query on a data source where the"Model information cannot be found" error is encountered, and the data populates as expected.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Run/Edit Story report imported from another instance.
  2. Accessing the Story Designer, several errors are displayed, such as:
    • "Please contact your administrator.
      Model: <Model Name> Correlation ID: <ID>"
    • "Error: Debug [IOLayer]: (#<num>) <ID>
Error [Server]: (#<num>) Query does not exist in the query repository.Correlation ID: <ID>"
    • "The table failed to initialize: Please Contact your Administrator. ..."
  3. Access all Data Sources added to the report and observe the error:
"Model information cannot be found.Correlation ID: <ID>".
  4. On Data Sources where the "Model information cannot be found" error is encountered, click Preview Query, and observe that the results populate as expected without any errors.

Cause

The imported story's data source was not yet saved in the instance it was imported into and still refers to model information existing in the source instance.

Resolution

Save the query by clicking "Finish" within the Query Designer. Perform a Data Refresh on the Story Designer and observe that the data starts populating on the widgets without errors.

Note: If the data source is linked with a non-working one, first unlink/fix the data source before performing the steps.
