3670095 - Rounding Calculation Rule/Discrepancy for Japanese Tax Amount in F2095/F2096 in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

In app F2095 and F2096, calculated tax amount is different from the actual posted tax amount. It is also noticed that the calculated tax amount is not round down, which should be by Japanese default.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Use SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition apps F2095 or F2096 for tax reconciliation.
  2. Apply Tax Code and tax base amount.
  3. Observe the discrepancy between the posted sales tax amount and the calculated sales tax amount.

Cause

The default rounding rule for Japanese tax calculation is round down. However, F2095/F2096 does not apply this rounding rule. In these apps, tax calculation rounds to the nearest whole number.

This is a known situation which may cause confusion.

Resolution

The product documentation will be updated to include this situation.

The main purpose of F2095/F2096 is for reconciliation purposes and process validations, but not for legal reporting. The Japanese actual tax calculation will by default be round down.
