Symptom
- There is a requirement to valuate time recordings that exceed a specific threshold of continuous hours.
- For instance, if an employee records attendance exceeding 4 hours in a single entry, that recording becomes relevant for payroll.
- However, if an employee logs multiple attendance records in a single day, each under 4 hours, these entries will not be relevant for payroll, even if their cumulative duration exceeds 4 hours.

Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking
Resolution
Time Tracking enhancement is required.
The configuration step-by-step outlined below can be used to fulfill this requirement.
- Create a time recording of a duration matching the threshold hours using the Create Time Recording valuation type.
- For example, the duration is set to 4 hours. Persist this generated time recording in Time Type Group Above 'BLUE_GENERATE_4H'.
- Ensure the start and end times create a duration of exactly 4 hours. In this example it is set to 00:00 to 04:00.
- Configure a time valuation with valuation type 'Filter Single Records from Input Groups' to filter single records exceeding 4 hours.
- The Input Time Type Group (TTG) includes all time recordings for filtering.
- In this example, BLUE_EXTRA_INPUT is an Extra category Time Type Group (TTG) with only BLUE_EXTRA time type included.
- Set the 'Comparison Group Attribute' and 'Input Group Records Attribute' to Duration.
- Set the 'Comparison Operator' to 'Greater than or Equal to (>=)'
- Use the generated 4 hour time recording (BLUE_GENERATED_4H) as the 'Comparison Group'.
3. Single records from the Input Time Type Group will be moved to Time Type Group Below 'BLUE_CONTINUOUS_MORE_THAN_4_HOURS_BLUE_EXTRA' if their duration exceeds or equals 4 hours.
4. Here is an example of four time recordings with BLUE_EXTRA time type:
- 04:23 – 05:23, 1 hour
- 06:23 – 09:25, 3 hours and 2 minutes
- 13:45 – 18:45, 4 hours
- 19:46 – 01:46(+1 day), 5 hours
5. Only the last two entries that are at least four hours long will be moved to BLUE_CONTINUOUS_MORE_THAN_4_HOURS_BLUE_EXTRA, resulting in the expected outcome.
