Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Resolution
Currently Supported Scopes:
Since CE2502, a dedicated scope item is introduced: 7KW (Customer Returns for Material with Variant Configuration). It is based on the scope item BKP (Customer Returns).
- In CE2502, Returns for Sales via scope item 1YT (Make-to-Order Production with Variant Configuration) is supported.
- In CE2602, Returns for Sales via scope item 4R6 (Sales Processing using Third-Party with Variant Configuration) is supported.
- Returns for Sales via scope item 4OC (Make-to-Order Production for Sales Kits with Variant Configuration) is not yet supported.
Known Limitations or Issues:
There are some known limitations or issues in 7KW (Customer Returns for Material with Variant Configuration):
- The refund type "replacement material" is not supported.
- From the inventory management perspective, if moving the returned configurable product to un-restricted stock via logistical follow up activity "0011 – Transfer to Free Available Stock" in material inspection or logistical follow up activity "0002 – Immediately Move to Free Available Stock" in returns order, there are two known issues:
(1) Returned configurable product is valuated with the inventory price from the master data of configurable product. The inventory value and COGS reverse value in returns are different from the value in sales.
(2) Once in un-restricted stock, there is no way to access the configured variant values, as there is no direct linkage with returns order anymore.
For the business requirement to put the returned configurable product into the un-restricted stock for a resell, with the above two known issues critical in the end-to-end process, raise a feature request via the Customer Influence Portal. - For Returns for Sales via scope item 4R6 (Sales Processing using Third-Party with Variant Configuration), if there is a supplier returns process involved in customer returns, there are additional issues:
(1) Refund from supplier by credit memo: If Logistical follow up activity "0005 – ship to supplier" is used, might encounter "Account &1 has been set as not relevant for tax" in the supplier invoice step. Find alternative ways as workarounds to fix this gap with assessment in the project, such as setting the account as tax relevant, or determining a different account.
(2) Refund from supplier by replacement configurable product: This is not supported. Refund by credit memo is the only way.
