3670886 - BR0036W: Current sequence number # of database instance <SID> is not greater than the sequence number # of the last saved offline redo log file

Symptom

Error encountered while running an archive backup. Error messages include:

  • BR0036W: Current sequence number 2058 of database instance <SID> is not greater than the sequence number 3259 of the last saved offline redo log file.
  • BR0031W: Probably the sequence number of database instance <SID> was reset.
  • BR1367W: File with sequence number 3259 not found in V$ARCHIVED_LOG.
  • BR0543E: Offline backup using RMAN failed.
  • BR0005I: BRARCHIVE terminated with errors.
