3670947 - Manage journal entries functionality change after hotfix 8 on release 2508 - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• Since the recent hotfix 08 on 2508 release, there is a change in behavior of processing of journal entry line items via apps such as 'Display Line Items in General Ledger' (F2217), 'Display Line Item Entry' (F2218), 'Manage Customer Line Items' (F0711), 'Manage Supplier Line Items' (F0712) & 'Manage journal entries' (F0717A) 
• Users must perform an additional step to access the detailed view and edit documents directly under app 'Manage Journal Entries'.
• The symptom appeared after the hotfix implemented over the weekend of 18th of October 2025.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Access the 'Display Line Item in General Ledger' app.
2. Navigate to "Manage Journal Entries" from a specific line item in the application.
3. Observe that the Ledger View automatically opens, and editing items is not possible within this view.
4. To edit items, click on the document number in the top left corner to navigate to the Document Display.
   
   

The symptom is caused by a functionality change in 'Manage Journal Entries' introduced during the recent hotfix. When navigating from the 'Display Line Item in General Ledger' app, the application sends all necessary key fields to identify the correct Item within the Ledger View. Consequently, whenever you navigate from this application, the Ledger View in Manage Journal Entries is automatically opened now. Note that editing items is not possible within the Ledger View. 

The change in the behavior is intended to improve and streamline User Experience and business processes involved. The decision was made that it would be better practice to have users navigating from the applications displaying Journal Entry Line Items to be directed to the details of the particular Journal Entry Line Item in the app 'Manage Journal Entries' instead of the overview.

1. Users can navigate to the Document Display by clicking on the document number located in the top left corner to make changes to Header fields or Item fields.
