Symptom
- Individuals who are rehired within three years and are exempt from completing the E-Verify process, as per KBA 3377976, appear as "incomplete" in Story Reports and standard SAP E-Verify audit reports.
- There is no field or indicator in Onboarding 2.0 (ONB2) tables to differentiate these exempt cases from genuinely incomplete E-Verify records.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a rehire candidate in Onboarding 2.0 who has previously completed the E-Verify process within the last three years and has non-expired documents on file.
- Initiate the Onboarding process for this rehire.
- Observe that the system bypasses the E-Verify process, as expected per KBA 3377976.
- Generate or review the E-Verify Story Report (custom or standard report such as SF_ONB_I9_E-Verify_Analysis_v2.0).
- Check the report output the rehire who legitimately bypassed E-Verify appears as "incomplete", even though no E-Verify step was required.
Cause
Currently, there is no internal logic or function in the system to prevent E-Verify cases from being generated for rehired individuals who are exempt due to verification within the past three years.
Resolution
Note that an enhancement is scheduled for delivery in the 1H 2026 release. This update will introduce necessary controls to address the observed behavior.
