3671615 - Error when assigning WBS element in Completed status to sales order item

Symptom

When assigning WBS in "Completed" status to a sales order item during the creation of sales order, error V2 515 "This WBS element cannot be assigned" is raised.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a sales order
  2. Assign the WBS element to the sales order item
  3. Error "This WBS element cannot be assigned" is raised

Cause

Any operational work on the WBS element is no longer expected once it is in "Completed" status. Thus, it is not allowed to assign a WBS element in "Completed" status to a sales order item.

Resolution

Set the WBS element back to "Released" status, then assign it to the sales order item.
