• Reorder point 0 cannot be maintained in MRP view 1 in Material Master due to message: "Specify the reorder point for reorder point planning" (Message no. M3439).

• S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 

1. Navigate to the Material Master in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
2. Attempt to set the reorder point to 0 with reorder point MRP type e.g. V1 in MRP view 1.
3. Observe the error message: "Specify the reorder point for reorder point planning" (Message no. M3439).

• The issue occurs due to the fundamental logic of reorder point planning procedures. In reorder point planning, the net requirements calculation is only carried out once the stock level has fallen below the reorder level. With a zero reorder point, this calculation cannot function properly as there would be no meaningful threshold for comparison.
• The system enforces this restriction through built-in validation to ensure data integrity and proper MRP functionality. This prevents users from creating illogical planning scenarios that would disrupt the reorder point planning process.

If procurement proposals are required only when stock reaches zero, consider the following alternatives:

a. Change MRP Type: Use MRP type "ND" (No Planning) and handle procurement manually.

b. Minimum Reorder Point: Set the reorder point to 1 (the minimum allowed value) with appropriate lot sizing.
