Symptom
- What is the logic behind Top Skills and Attributes to Improve and Top Skills and Attributes You Have under Roles and Aspirations Section?
- What is the number of attributes that should display?
- What is the criteria for selecting these attributes?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning
SAP SuccessFactors Talent Intelligence Hub
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Growth Portfolio.
- Select the "Aspirations" section.
- View the "Top Skills and Attributes You Have" section for the role "T4PM IT Solution Owner Expert".
- Observe that only three skills are displayed under "Top Skills and Attributes You Have".
- Navigate to "Role Details" and compare all the rated skills. Notice that there are other skills with better ratings that are not displayed in the "Top Skills and Attributes You Have" section.
Resolution
For the logic behind “Top Skills and Attributes to Improve”:
- Attributes that are unrated will be considered as having an unlimited gap and will be placed at the top of the list.
- For rated attributes, the gap is calculated as: (expected rating) minus (actual rating).
- Attributes will be sorted in descending order based on the size of the gap.
- If multiple attributes have the same gap, they will be ordered alphabetically by name.
Actually we have 3 attributes cards displaying. There is a plan for next Release (2605) to display the whole list of attributes. This is not yet confirmed, it's only a target date. Click on star to bookmark this article to receive updates about this enhancement.
For the logic behind "Top Skills and Attributes You Have":
The attributes on a role are ordered by the gap between achieved and expected ratings, with the largest gap on top. However, since the attribute cards display only whole numbers, the gaps are not shown exactly, which can cause the displayed order to diverge from the intended logic.
Example:
Proficiency Level Scale being used in the system: 5-point scale (1 to 5)
Job Role "Executive Management" has the following competencies with the expected ratings:
- "Artificial Intelligence" with Expected Rating of 5
- "Behavioral Assessments" with Expected Rating of 4
- "Business Communication" with Expected Rating of 4
User "John Doe" has the following ratings for these attributes:
- "Artificial Intelligence" with Rating of 3
- "Behavioral Assessments" with Expected Rating of 2
- "Business Communication" with Expected Rating of 3
Considering system will order the attributes based on gap calculation, here's user's gap for each attribute:
- "Artificial Intelligence" with True Gap of 2
- "Behavioral Assessments" with True Gap of 2
- "Business Communication" with True Gap of 1
In the current system logic, it will use the whole number, not considering decimal values, and rounding the values as:
- "Artificial Intelligence" with Displayed Gap of 2
- "Behavioral Assessments" with Displayed Gap of 2
- "Business Communication" with Displayed Gap of 1
System will then order the displayed based on highest gap, and if value is equal, order alphabetically:
- "Artificial Intelligence"
- "Behavioral Assessments"
- "Business Communication"
Engineering Team is also working to enhance this logic and start using decimal values, not rounding values to order them.
This way, it display order as:
- "Behavioral Assessments"
- "Artificial Intelligence"
- "Business Communication"
