Symptom
When creating or editing a checklist item in Onboarding 1.0, the checklist item text is truncated in the user interface.
Additionally, the following error message appears:
"Reached the maximum length allowed of 150 characters."
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding 1.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Admin Center > Configure New Hire Activity Planning process.
- Attempt to add text to the checklist item (Text longer than 150 characters).
- Observe the error message: "reached the maximum length allowed of 150 characters".
Cause
This is the expected behavior due to a system limitation. The checklist item text in Onboarding 1.0 has a maximum limit of 150 characters, which is defined by system design and cannot be increased.
Resolution
As this behavior is working as designed, the following alternatives can be applied:
-
Reduce the checklist item text to ensure it fits within the 150-character limit.
-
Managers can manually add any additional information while completing the task.
Additional information: Onboarding 1.0 is in its sunset phase and will be discontinued as part of SAP’s product roadmap. For this reason, enhancement requests or design changes for Onboarding 1.0 are no longer recommended.
Customers are strongly encouraged to migrate to Onboarding 2.0, which offers improved capabilities, ongoing support, and flexibility for future enhancements.
