3672286 - System Allows Save Without Owner in Opportunity

Symptom

Users can remove the owner from an opportunity, and despite error messages indicating a missing "Employee Responsible," the system still allows the opportunity to be saved successfully.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Sales Work Center.
  2. Navigate to the Opportunities view.
  3. Open an existing Opportunity.
  4. Remove the Owner from the Sales Team.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Observe that the Opportunity is saved with the following error messages:
  • "Party Employee Responsible Party missing."
  • "Please enter a party with role Employee Responsible."

Cause

  • This is the current system behavior.
  • The system performs internal validations after executing the "Save" action. If the owner is not maintained, a warning message appears.
  • Opportunities are classified as Error Tolerant Documents, which allows saving the document despite the error message. The system will display the error message whenever the document is opened to alert or inform the user.

Resolution

To ensure the system prevents saving when the "Employee Responsible" is missing, we recommend making the "Owner" field mandatory via Adaptation Mode. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Navigate to the Sales work center.
  2. Open the Opportunities view.
  3. Go to the Header section.
  4. Initiate Adaptation Mode.
  5. Select the Owner field and set it as mandatory.
