3672590 - Changing reporting frequency causes mixed monthly and quarterly periods in Document and Reporting Compliance

Symptom

After changing a reporting entity’s frequency (for example, from quarterly to monthly), the system shows both quarterly and monthly reporting periods for the same entity.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition.

Cause

The reporting periods are generated when the reporting entity is first created, based on its initial frequency.
If the frequency is later changed in configuration, the previously generated periods remain stored. The system does not retroactively regenerate them with the new frequency.

Resolution

This is standard system behaviour. Once periods are created for one frequency, they cannot be fully replaced by a new frequency.

To proceed:

  • Create a new reporting entity with the correct frequency (for example, monthly).

  • Use the new entity for future reporting runs.

  • The old entity can remain unused or be deactivated if no reports were submitted.
