3672772 - Error when Creating New Bank Statement: Date of current bank statement must be after or equal to the date of previous bank statement with validity year

Symptom

Error occurs when creating new bank statements.

Error: Date of current bank statement must be after or equal to the date DD.MM.YY of previous bank statement A with validity year XXX.

(DD.MM.YY represents the date. A represents a bank statement ID. XXX represents the year.)

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Liquidity Management work center.
  2. Go to the Bank Statements view.
  3. Choose New Bank Statement.
  4. In the Enter General Data step, select Company and Bank Account ID.
  5. Enter a Statement date and Posting date.
  6. Click 'Check' button and see error message.

Cause

Bank statement A is the latest posted bank statement for this bank account and it has Statement date/Posting date as DD.MM.YY. The Statement date/Posting date entered in the new bank statement is before this date DD.MM.YY.

Steps to check the previous bank statements:

  1. Go to Liquidity Management work center.
  2. Go to Bank Statements view.
  3. Search for the same company and bank statement account ID.
  4. Apply and can see all the posted bank statements.

Resolution

New bank statement can only be posted after date DD.MM.YY. Otherwise, it will affect the opening balances for the previous posted bank statements(like bank statement A) and cause inconsistencies.
