3672921 - Error "WBS element XXX is already assigned to another sales document item" when Assigning WBS Element to Sales Order Item

When trying to assign a WBS element to a sales order item, error "WBS element XXX is already assigned to another sales document item" (Message no. V2513) occurs, even though Multiple Sales Order Items Scenario flag for the WBS element is set to "Yes".

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the "Manage Sales Order" App, and navigate to the sales order
2. Assign the WBS element to the "WBS Element" field for the sales order item
3. Observe the error message: "WBS Element XXX is already assigned to another sales document item."
4. Navigate to "Project Control - Enterprise Projects" app, and open the relevant project
5. Confirm that the value maintained for "Multiple Sales Order Item Scenario" is "Yes"

This is a known issue due to missing object type value for any WBS elements under the project header that do not have a sub element. The affected project and WBS elements are created through either Migration Cockpit or Enterprise Project API. 

The development team is working on the delivery of permanent fix. The fix is planned to be delivered with 2508 HFC10 over the weekend of Nov 15th.

Note:

Workarounds:

• Navigate to the "Project Planning" app and apply dummy changes to the affected WBS elements, or
• Use Enterprise Project API to apply dummy changes to the affected WBS elements
