Symptom
- Net Book Value is "0" for Depreciation Area 01 even though it should be "1".
- Memo Value 1 JPY is a legal requirement of Japan Corporate Tax Law depreciation calculation for tangible assets.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public edition
Cause
Memo Value 1 JPY is a legal requirement of Japan Corporate Tax Law depreciation calculation for tangible assets. The memo value is set for depreciation areas that have country-specific valuation view type JP12 or JP15.
The setting of memo value 1 JPY is hard-coded.
Resolution
Note that there is no explicit statement about memo value in J-GAAP. If you would like memo value 1 JPY for depreciation areas that have country-specific valuation view type JP11, you can use the Define GLO Valuation View Type with Memo Value 1 JPY configuration activity to specify country-specific valuation view type JP11 for which the memo value should apply.
Depreciation area 01 belongs to valuation view type 'JP11 - JP Annex16: For Book'
Depreciation area 15 belongs to valuation view type 'JP12 - JP Annex16: For Tax'
Depreciation area 91 belongs to valuation view type 'JP15 - JP Annex16: For Tax without additional depreciation'
For JP12 and JP15 the memo value is pre-delivered setting.
For JP11 the configuration must be set to apply memo value on depreciation area 01.
