Symptom
- A third-party verification process requires retrieval of a One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent via email.
- However, the OTP is delivered to the tenant's technical email address, which has no accessible inbox.
- As a result, the passcode cannot be retrieved, and the business is seeking an alternative method to address this gap.
Environment
- SAP Service Cloud Version 2 1.0
- SAP Sales Cloud Version 2 1.0
Cause
- The tenant's technical email address is a system-managed address without an associated inbox.
- Messages sent to this address, including OTPs, cannot be directly accessed or retrieved by users.
Resolution
- While the technical email address does not support inbox access, inbound email attempts to this address are still processed by the system.
- Navigate to the Inbound Email Monitor.
- Locate the relevant failed email entry that matches the timestamp and subject of the OTP email.
- Download the associated MIME content.
- Save the MIME file with a .eml extension.
- Open the .eml file using an email client (such as Outlook or notepad ++) to view the contents, including the One-Time Passcode.
- This workaround allows temporary access to the contents of system-bound emails without requiring direct inbox access.
PS: Please do not use the technical email address as an email channel.
