3674000 - Build Failure – Maven Dependency Download Error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error from Maven Central)

Symptom

During a SAP Commerce Cloud build, the process fails with the following error messages in the build logs:

[main] ERROR org.apache.maven.cli.MavenCli - Failed to execute goal on project commercemediasync: 
Could not resolve dependencies for project de.hybris.platform:commercemediasync:jar:2205.5: 
Could not transfer artifact com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-core:jar:2.13.4 
from/to central (https://repo1.maven.org/maven2): transfer failed, status: 500 Internal Server Error
