Symptom
The layout of the Edit screen for a block misconfigured — the fields are displayed vertically (one on top of the other) regardless of screen size.
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Employee profile and navigate to any portlet;
- Click the pencil icon to edit;
- Select a date;
- Observe that all fields are displayed in a vertical order (Flow Form view).
- Expected behavior: Fields should be displayed as grid;
Cause
When the Edit Dialog in Configure People Profile is saved for any reason (for example, when someone opens it to review or rearrange the configuration and clicks Save), the system preserves the field order and layout exactly as displayed in the dialog box.
Resolution
When the block is first added or removed and added again, the Edit Dialog initially shows the fields in a list view, but the default display of the fields is actually a grid layout.
However, if a user clicks Save while inside the Edit Dialog, the system adopts the layout currently displayed there — meaning the fields will appear stacked vertically instead of in a responsive grid.
- When the block is added, the Edit Dialog will show like the follow:
- The default display of that is a grid:
- After clicking "Save" in the Edit Dialog box:
To prevent that from happening, the Edit Dialog should not be saved unless the field layout is being intentionally rearranged.
To fix it after it happened:
- In Configure People Profile, remove the affected block;
- Click Save;
- Add the block again;
- Save the configuration from the main Configure People Profile page.
- Do not click save on the Edit Dialog box.
Note: the order of the field will follow the BCUI order by default.
