Symptom
While uploading CSV files with special characters like Ä, ä, Ü, ü, Ö, ö in "Migrate Your Data(F3473)" application, following errors are encountered:
- Character set conversion not possible for one or more characters. Source data from the first non-convertible byte: XY.
- Cannot read CSV file. Ensure that the CSV file uses UTF-8 encoding (Message Class: /LTB/MC, Message Number: 379).
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Fiori application "Migrate Your Data(F3473)"
- Create a project.
- Perform the step "Prepare"
- Click on "Upload" button and upload the CSV file.
Cause
The uploaded CSV file is not in UTF-8 Encoding format.
Resolution
It is required to save the CSV file to be uploaded with UTF-8 encoding.
- Open the downloaded CSV file with Notepad++.
- Click the "Encoding" in the top menu bar and choose the option of "Convert to UTF-8".
- Save this file in Notepad++, then close it.
Re-open this CSV file again with Notepad++, the format has been changed to "UTF-8" successfully in the "Encoding". And this CSV file will be uploaded to the migration cockpit without any error.
