3675242 - Country/Region is a required field and cannot be blank error during Automatic Hire - SAP SuccessFactors

Symptom

  • Error message displayed: "Country/Region is a required field and cannot be blank." stopping automatic hire in Onboarding.
  • New hire record appears in Manage Pending Hires (MPH) with an indicator showing it as an Automatic Hire (">>>").

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Manage Pending Recruits.
  2. Select Onboarding.
  3. Observe the candidate record in Automatic Hire (">>>"), where the error message "Country/Region is a required field and cannot be blank" is displayed.

Cause

The issue was caused by the system using the emergency contact’s ‘address’ field.

Resolution

Disable the address field from emergencyContactPrimary on Manage Business Configuration.

  1. Go to Manage Business Configuration.
  2. Open emergencyContactPrimary.
  3. Select "Take Action" and choose "Make Correction".
  4. Disable the field "address" by changing the enabled status to "No".
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Reinitiate the onboarding process for one affected user or start it over.
