3675323 - Sales Quotes with Prospect customer are not transferred during submission

Symptom

When creating a Sales Quote with a Prospect customer, performing the request external pricing and submitting the Quote, the Transfer Status remains as 'Not Started'. Hence meaning it was not replicated to the external system.

However when creating Sales Quote for Account, requesting external pricing and submitting, both Approval Status changes to 'Approval Not Necessary/Approved' and Transfer Status changes to 'In Process', as expected.

Hence issue occurs only for Quotes with Prospects assigned.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Sales > Sales Quotes.
  2. Open the affected Quote.
  3. Click on 'Request External Pricing' and Save.
  4. See the 'Total' field is calculated.
  5. Now click on Actions > Submit.
  6. See the 'Approval Status' is changed to 'Approval Not Necessary' or 'Approved'.
  7. However the 'Transfer Status' remains as 'Not Started' and the 'Submit' button is greyed out now.
  8. Perform any dummy change, such as clicking on 'Request External Pricing' again.
  9. See now the 'Transfer Status' changed to 'In Process'.

Why for Quotes created with a Prospect the submit button does not trigger the Transfer/replication?

 

Cause

When the customer is still a Prospect in C4C and hasn't been replicated or created in the connected ERP system, the ERP will not recognize the customer as the external pricing relies on the communication with ERP. Hence, when submitting a Sales Quote with Prospect customer, it will fail to change the Transfer Status. Only after forcing the submission a second time (dummy change after both Approval and Request External Pricing are set) - that the Transfer Status will be changed.

The submit functionality will primarily work for the Accounts and not for the Prospects due to reason above. 

Resolution

This would be the system expected behavior.

The recommendation is to transfer Sales Quotes with Customers that already exist in ERP system as well.
